Happy Valley Clubhouse Extension, Hong Kong

In 2015 Hong Kong Jockey Club commenced construction on a major new extension to its Happy Valley Clubhouse referred to as “The Hilltop in the Valley”. The new clubhouse comprises a twelve-story building designed by Wong & Ouyang Architects, on a 46,600 sq.m land parcel previously used for a stable block. As part of an international collection of designers assigned to the project, (one for each Level) Concept i was appointed as the Interior Designers for Level 7 of the complex.

Level 7 is conceived as a luxury “4 Generation” family dining and entertainment destination. The project requested two-family restaurants offering Provincial Chinese Cuisine and Authentic American Cuisine and a state of the art Children’s Play Zone. The Children’s Play Zone was required to be fun, and offer meaningful Play and Learn activities for an age range of4 to 12 year olds.

The brief included the following main aims:

• Provide a completely integrated family floor fusing 4 generational food, leisure and play facilities in a uniquely designed environment, targeting members and their accompanying guests
• Provide 2 distinct family restaurant zones including a 300 seat Chinese Provincial Restaurant, and a 150 seat all day western cuisine restaurant zone.
• Provide a state of the art immersive children’s play and learn zone, using the newest technology and active play components, including Party rooms and other special attractions.
• The interior ambiance of all spaces should have a modern, luxurious feeling providing the guests with a comfortable private dining experience with quality service.
• The food preparation areas should consist of open kitchens adjoining back kitchens to allow members a more visual and dynamic dining experience.

The Forum, Manila

This 280,000m² vertical mixed-use project sits at the heart of Manila’s busiest roadways, with over a million passengers traveling past the site each day.  As a live, work, and play concept for the master plan, we were appointed as the lead retail and podium architect for the project with an area of 85,000 m².

Our team took a pragmatic approach for positioning the project, with an emphasis on extracting key drivers from the site context analysis and deep research into cutting-edge market trends.  The team developed a branded retail environment that responded perfectly to market conditions, opportunities, and economics.

Experimental Retailing!

MUNX2, Bangkok

Seacon Square, Bangkok’s 500,000 m² mega-mall, unleashed 27,000 m² of new, experiential retailing in August 2020. It’s young, it’s fun, it’s totally Mun! Named after the Thai slang for something somewhat crazy, “Mun Mun” features cutting edge, individualistic retailing immersed in eye-popping arts and street culture. Creative terraces, pockets, galleries, and open studios are carved throughout 3 levels of space. Non-mainstream retailing, learning, performance, and co-working inspire free-thinking, interaction, play, and self-expression.

Seacon Square opened in 1994 is one of Bangkok’s largest shopping malls with 300 stores and 500,000 m² of gross building area. The building is 500 meters long and could fit 100 football pitches worth of mall. It has every type of shop and product, an indoor amusement park, several supermarkets, a bowling alley, and a 14-cinema multiplex theatre.

Toggi Fun World is Born – Grrrrrrrreat!!

Toggi Fun World, Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh

Nestled into the beautiful coastal mangroves of Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh, a mysterious new “Paradise of Fun” is born. Welcome to Toggi Fun World, an 85 acre theme park including Rides Park, Water Park, Indoor Entertainment Center and 500 Room Resort Hotel, all surrounding a spectacular waterfall lagoon. The project is positioned to become Bangladesh’s newest, largest and best integrated resort set within a few km of Cox’s Bazar expanding international airport and train network. Key attractions include a suspended coaster, drop tower, Bangladesh’s tallest restaurant/observatory, a 5,000 sq.m double wave pool, a man made “erupting” volcano with 90m high waterfall, live Lagoon shows, and multimedia sound/light river shows. With over 60 indoor and outdoor attractions, Toggi Funworld will become Bangladesh’s premier entertainment destination.

Street Gourmet

Seacon Bangkae, Bangkok

Seacon Development Group commissioned Concept i  to design a dynamic new food hall in their south Bangkok mall.  The design scope was full service, including  architectural renovation, interior, lighting, signage and graphics.

Thailand is famous for its food, especially it’s amazing street food. The client aimed to bring the energy and tastes of the street into the upper levels of their mall. Our designers wanted to inspire local “foodies” by creating a uniquely Thai experience bringing local street food, artisan restaurants,  and other specialty boutiques under one roof.

The top floor of the mall was expanded with soaring ceiling heights, full height daylight elevations and new mezzanine space. Food “islands” were organized into a comfortable, casual streetscape, using urban hawker stall and shop house materiality in a fresh, modern way.

Work – Play – Relax

Seacon Office Headquarters, Bangkok

Seacon Development Group appointed us to design their new corporate
headquarters in eastern Bangkok. The scope was full service, including
Architecture, Interior, Lighting, Landscape, Signage and Graphics. We
defined a work/relax/play philosophy, dedicated to staff welfare and
inspiring casual exchanges and social interaction between all levels of
employees.

A freeform, 2-storey plan was designed to maximise views and bring
natural daylight and gardens into the working space. Open spaces were
maximised, with a sparing use of partitions in separating main
departments, formal meeting and executive spaces. Natural wood
finishes, open ceilings and outward views provide a comfortable
indoor/outdoor look and feel.

Krungsri Exclusive Banking Centre, Bangkok

As part of Krungsri Bank’s national rebranding program, we created
relaxed, lifestyle environments, for exclusive banking. Our goal was to
bring a touch of home comfort into the bank, and redefine the “Krungsri
Experience”.

Our designers created a series of sensory zones, enhancing the
customers’ banking journey. A ‘Locating Zone’ presents a clear customer
path to facilities, services and advice. An ‘Exploring Zone’ provides easy
access to information and products, with customer assistance on
defining choices. A ‘Dreaming Zone’ offers an intimate area with
interactive screens inspiring customers to stop and try something new.
